Pride Summer!!

Dear Spelties,

Happy Pride!!! HOW’S THAT SPELT? “Q.U.E.E.R!!!”

Pride Special for Saturday July 31:

- Giant Sinful Double Chocolate Chip Cookies – $3.00 each.

- Blueberry pies: – $12.00 each.

- Spelt & Spuds bread: 3 for $18.00 (special at $6.00 each) Our lighter and more digestible summer bread, made out of organic unbleached, unprocessed white spelt flour! (please check our website for more product information)

*Did you know? White spelt has the same fibre count as the whole (brown) spelt, with more protein? ;-) )

IMPORTANT NOTICE – CHANGE IN HOURS:

**Please note the new hours of operation for the summer. This might follow through to the fall & winter if all goes well.

NEW SUMMER HOURS:

August 1st to September 4th:

“OPEN SATURDAYS ONLY! “

10 to 4 PM.

**Please place your order online by THURSDAY, to be sure to get what you need Saturday.

We will be closed the rest of the week and doing production.

**Please reserve by email and tell us what you need, as there will be an enormous amount of orders, because of being open only 1 day. We just want you, our favourite and regular customers, to be able to get your favourite baked goods.

- Our “frozen breads only” will be at 25% discount Saturdays.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If this system works well, we will remain open only on Saturdays for the rest of the year.

Why? It is more cost effective for us to concentrate our efforts. Most people are coming on Saturdays anyway. We want to be sure that we will be there to continue to provide Spelt to our Spelties for many years to come. That is why we are concentrating our efforts, trying ways to make our work load and the cost of our goods sustainable and realistic to survive another 10 years and much more.

(** If for some reason you are not able to come and pick up a big order(minimum 12 loaves) on Saturday, we will try to be there for you Friday late afternoon, as you count for us enormously, but we cannot promise anything, as we will need to organize our work load a week in advance.)

Summer Specials & Pride Weekend

Finally summer has arrived!! Lots of Picnics at the beach and camping!! So we have what you need for this weekend:

Specials for Saturday July 24:

RASPBERRY PIES: $12 each – To be absolutely served with vanilla bean ice cream!!

BEACH BUNS!!: 2 kinds: *(smaller than hamburger buns, perfect for a little sandwich on the beach
or in your picnic basket.

1. Asiago cheese & herbs buns (made with Spelt & Spuds bread dough). $8/6 buns. – Perfect with fresh ham or roast beef or simply garden tomatoes!!

2. Cherry-walnut honey brown buns (Made with Honey-Brown bread dough). $8/6 buns – Perfect with goat cheese

MINI-LOAVES:

1. Lemon poppy seeds and/or “GO Bananas” coffee cake. $3. each or 2 for $5.00

**Don’t forget to reserve your hot-dog and hamburger buns for the weekend!! They go fast. $8/6 buns.

**Please note: We will not be making Croissant until it is cooler. Butter doesn’t do well in the tropics!

PRIDE WEEKEND!!: Come & chat with us Sunday August 1st at the Pride Parade, we will be on Sunset beach selling our baked goodies: Mini loaves & Breakfast Cookies.

We are celebrating the launch of our famous “BREAKFAST COOKIE”!
June 26, 12 to 3 PM, at the bakery!

Horizon Distributors are launching our Breakfast Cookies June 21, throughout Western Canada. They are the #1 natural & health food Distributor in Western Canada. We want to celebrate with you this huge event. Even though we have been producing this nutritional cookie for 12 years and have loyal followers, it will finally be distributed all over Canada soon.

Easter Weekend!

What’s New?

Easter Weekend!!

We will be open our regular hours on Good Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd. Same hours.

On Saturday:

Hot Cross Buns!!

We will be making them Friday and Saturday only this week and then they are gone with the bunny ’till next Year. ;-(

Challah!!

If you have never had Spelt Challah, come and try it. It’s amazing, perfect with butter. Also makes the best french toast in the world!!

Ingredients: Organic spelt flour, organic cane sugar, free range eggs, yeast & sea salt. $8.00 each

Pie of the Week!

Hot-Cross Buns Are Back!!

Dear Spelties,

We finally have our city back. We are very proud to have won 14 gold medals, even though the Olympics were not beneficial for business. Now we are back on track!

WHAT’S NEW?

Janet is now a proud Grand-Mother!!!

Lilja was born Sunday February 21st in Portland, Oregon. Because business was so slow during the Olympics, we were able to be there for the birth. Janet’s son Erik & his wife Britta are doing well after a 62 hour labour, they are all very healthy, including our baby Lilja.




SATURDAY MARCH 13:

Croissants Are Back!!

We want you to absolutely try them and for that we will be selling them by the unit just for you, this week only!

Usually we sell 3 croissants for $10.00 a box, for this weekend, 3 bucks a piece! 100% organic spelt flour and pure butter!

This Saturday we will be having our traditional Spelt Hot-Cross Buns! We will be making them until Easter!

11th Anniversary & Christine’s Birthday!

Dear Spelties,

The winter goodies are coming out and this week we will make shortbread to celebrate Janet’s Grandma who passed away on October 15th this year, exactly three months before her 100th birthday. She was the last of her generation and for those of you who were at the 10th celebration of The Spelt Bakery last year, she was there.

This year we will be celebrating our 11th Anniversary on Saturday,December 5th. We will be having a party from 3 to 5 pm with all sorts of yummy goodies and tasty drinks. It is also Christine’s Birthday that day. We hope you will join us in our festivities and bring a friend. We will be sending you more details on our 11th Anniversary celebration next week.

We are constantly working on new recipes and you can now get our latest, Banana Coffee Cake, by the slice. It’s made with a beautiful organic coffee and organic bananas. We brought some home and everyone said they couldn’t keep their hands off it.

Soon, we will have our fruitcakes back. Order in advance as you never know if they will run out as there is a limited amount available. We will have Date Walnut or Apricot Brandy. Come by and sample them with a good cup of organic coffee from Café Etico on Customer Appreciation Day, Saturday, November 21st. They will be on special that day for $10.00, regular price is $13.00 for a one pound spelt fruitcake. Get them while you can as it will be the only day this year they go on sale.
