FYI: Our Baking Schedule
Because we are a destination bakery:
Wednesdays, Thursdays and early Fridays, most of the breads we bake are pre-sold, by being reserved by you, our customers and for wholesale customers. If you do not pre-order in advance, the best day to come and see what we have is Saturdays, as it is the only “walk-in” retail day where you can see all of our products on display. Otherwise, please place your order by email through our website and we will have it ready for you to pick up on the day allocated for you. Please check our website for more product information. FAQ:
If you have severe wheat allergy, these are the ingredients you might find conventional wheat in:
- Food starch or starch.
- Bread or leavening sour.
- Vital gluten.
- Wild yeast.
- Natural cultures.
- Levain.
****Be sure to ask your merchant or the company that produces the products you are buying, if those ingredients contain wheat, as they often do, even if it is advertised as a “wheat free” bread or product. It is a requirement for any merchant selling food products to provide all ingredients to their customers upon request and if they give you excuses like we cannot divulge our “Secret ingredients” it is not a legal thing to do.
Just for your information:
Our sour is made with 100% certified organic spelt flour and was started by Janet 20 years ago!
We are also very adamant to be certain to get ingredients that do not contain any wheat in our bakery. Even though some of our flour may come from a mill that also produces wheat, we make sure that the cross contamination is minimum, by communicating with our suppliers about it. We always have available for you, contact information of all of our suppliers. Our spelt flour is certified Organic & Canadian.
Janet & I also suffer from wheat allergy and many other allergies. We always recommend to our customers to seek the help or advice of health professionals to be properly diagnosed about your allergies. We are not qualified to tell you if spelt is OK for you or not. Please view “What is spelt” on our website to educate yourself about the wonder grain that is spelt!!
